Keelboat Sailing Courses

Level 2 Basic Skills Level 1 Start Sailing certificate or equivalent 16 hours practical, 2 students/instructor/Sonata, 3 months temporary CYC membership Fine-tuning basics, building confidence in rigging, sailing on all points, developing essential safety knowledge. 3 Days (concurrent) or 5 evenings (5 weeks) RYA Level 2 Current members £165, Non-members +£60
Level 3 Better Sailing Level 2 Keelboat Sailing certificate or equivalent 16 hours practical, 3 students/instructor/Sonata/safety boat, 3 months temporary CYC membership Improve keelboat sailing, consolidating skills, trying new ones in various conditions, preparing for advanced modules. 3 Days (concurrent) or 5 evenings (5 weeks) RYA Level 3 Current members £165, Non-members +£70
Start Racing Level 3 Keelboat Sailing certificate or equivalent 16 hours practical + shore theory, 3 students/instructor/Sonata/safety boat, 3 months temporary CYC membership Fundamentals of club racing: basic start sequences/timing, improved tacking/gybing, 5 essentials, basic racing rules. Able to participate in small races in good conditions. Afloat with theory ashore None Current members £165, Non-members +£70

Advanced Modules (Keelboat)

Day Sailing Skills and background knowledge to at least Level 3 standard Preparing and planning a day sail/short journey, pilotage, decision-making including adverse conditions. Afloat with some theory ashore, 16 hours tuition £165
Sailing with Spinnakers Level 3 Better Sailing standard Rigging, hoisting, gybing, dropping/recovering a spinnaker, sailing downwind. Afloat with some theory ashore, 16 hours tuition £165
Seamanship Skills Skills and background knowledge to at least Level 3 standard Handling situations afloat: berthing/mooring, stopping, reducing sail, man overboard recovery, anchoring, problem-solving. Afloat with some theory ashore, 16 hours tuition £165
