Our Sailing Activities and Facilities

Colne Yacht Club is one of the oldest and best established on the East Coast, with its origins stretching back to the 1870s.
Nestling on the waterfront in Brightlingsea, Essex the Clubhouse overlooks the harbour and estuary. Ideally located for local or distance sailing, we run a varied programme of racing and cruising to encourage all levels of skills and boats, and have an active social programme running throughout the year. Funded by the National Lottery via Sport England, Colne Yacht Club was the first UK club to offer sail training and the use of keelboats to its members.
Brightlingsea is a popular destination for visiting clubs who enjoy the panoramic views from the Club’s comfortable restaurant, bars and balcony. Our shower facilities are available 24/7.

International Women’s Day
Friday 8th March 2019

Following the success of last year’s event, the Colne Yacht Club is delighted to host another International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March. We are celebrating the women who work, run organisations, charities or clubs in and around Brightlingsea; and focusing on awareness and wellbeing.

There will be a series of talks throughout the day, as well as stalls advertising many activities and businesses in the town. Together, they will give us an opportunity to be more aware of important issues and to increase our sense of wellbeing.

We hope that many people will come along to learn a bit more about the women of our town; enjoy a cup of coffee, glass of wine or a bite to eat; and admire the best view in Brightlingsea. There is no entry fee; however, we hope people will support the raffle which is being held in aid of the Colchester Women's Refuge.

The timetable of talks is as follows:
