Cruising
FROM MIKE SHERMAN CRUISING COORDINATOR.
I have been asked by the Colne Yacht Club Sailing Committee to propose and action a Cruising in company Program for the membership for the 2008 season. Below are my preliminary thought on what I would like to do next season. As thing stand I will probably do most of the cruisers out lined myself and if any members would like to join me to Cruise in Company for all, any or part of these events they would be very welcome. I can be contacted on 01206 298930 and we can then discuss more detailed arrangements and refinements. Of course every thing is subject to the weather and other imponderables but it should always prove possible to do something, somewhere on all the dates listed.

Food
OSTEND
The Combuis
I thoroughly recommend the
mussels at this establishment. Generally one bowl between two people will do for
most of us Brits, but get a side order of “frits”, with a couple of
different dips.
Another good (and very useful ) place is
The Kok-Kok. It’s a 24 hour
pub, which serves rotissary Chickens with a basket of bread, and, of course,
beer. It’s a bit further along the
road the Combuis is on, toward the casino, and on the right hand side.

RAMSGATE
Any crews transiting Ramsgate
who appreciate Thai, Lao or Cambodian cuisine – I recommend this place. Let
them know you’re a yachtie passing through from the East Coast, as it’s a
market they are interested in tapping – so you might get a drink on the house
to pass the word on. The food is
very good, and they have been, or are going on TV.
