Cadets
Cadet members aged 8-18 are welcome to join our Saturday morning Cadet sessions which operate 09.00-12.00. Cadets should report to the Shore Leader at the Clubhouse and pay her the fee (currently £4 which includes lunch in the Club). To join our Cadets the following should be completed:
Parental consent form
Medical form
CYC Cadet Membership form
CYC has a variety of sailing dinghies available, and they are escorted by safety boats and the Sailing Leader who will be on the water with the Cadets at all times.
The aim of our Cadet section is to enjoy sailing. It is not designed to train for racing, although some competitive events are arranged.
The following volunteers are currently involved in running our Cadet section:
Derek Coleman is the Flag Officer with responsibility for Cadets.
Sue Gladwin is Cadet Shore Leader, who will check in Cadets in the morning, receive the payments (£4 per session), and ensure we have the correct forms which give consent and allow us to maintain safety. Sue will need other parents' help in providing this shore-based support. She will be the main contact point between Cadets, parents and the Club.
Geoff Bloice is Cadet Boatyard Leader, who will ensure the boats are ready and ensure the Cadets can rig and de-rig safely and effectively.
Chris Nunn is Cadet Sailing Leader, who will be out on the water with the Cadets and oversee the sailing activities.
Adam Gladwin is Cadet Commodore, and Zoe Whittaker is Cadet Vice Commodore.
Kate Holland is the designated Child Protection Officer, and organiser of Cadet Activity Week and Cadet Race Week in the summer.
Jennie Collins is the Club Administrator who can be contacted on 01206 302594 or waterside@colneyachtclub.org.uk as a central information and message point.
We are also delighted to have the continued support of our safety boat crews without whom we could not operate.
